The chairman of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee is set to be appointed on August 27.

According to a press note issued by the General Secretary of the Federal Parliament, Padam Prasad Pandey, the chairman of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee will be appointed on August 27.

Speaker Devraj Ghimire has set August 27 for the appointment of the chairman, according to the press notice.

The post of the chairman of the State Affairs Committee is lying vacant after former chairman Ramhari Khatiwada resigned on moral grounds over the alleged tampering of the 'cooling period' provision in the Civil Service Bill.

Pursuant to the House of Representatives Rules of Nepal, the vacant post of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee should be filled out within 15 days of its occurrence.

The chairman is likely to be appointed either from ruling Nepali Congress or CPN (UML).
