Hong Kong Commissioner confers Exequatur on Nepali Consul General Lekhak

The Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China in Hong Kong, Mr Cui Jianchun, conferred the Exequatur on Nepali Consul General for Hong Kong, Dr Bindeswar Prasad Lekhak, on his appointment on Friday.

Dr Lekhak received the Exequatur from the Commissioner Cui amidst a function held at the latter's office this afternoon.

Presenting the Exequatur to Lekhak, Cui said, "Hong Kong's "One Country, Two Systems" and its status as a financial and trade hub are its unique advantages which should be an asset to Nepal and Nepali businesses."

Meanwhile, he also expressed his desire to work closely in labor diplomacy, trade and investment and people-to-people exchanges between Nepal and Hong Kong.

In response, General Consul Lekhak expressed Nepal's commitment to the One China Principle and that Nepal values its long-standing and time-tested ties with China, a close neighbor and trusted development partner.

Describing the development and prosperity of Hong Kong SAR in the past 28 years as exemplary, Lekhak expressed his commitment to economic and labor diplomacy for mutual benefit. The discussions also touched upon the welfare of Nepali residents in Hong Kong and other issues including the transit visa, according to the press note issued by the Consulate General of Nepal, Hong Kong. 

"The exchange of high-level visits including the forthcoming visit of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit 2025 and the commencement of the 80th anniversary of the V-J Day, demonstrated the close and friendly relations between Nepal and China," Lekhak added.

While the Commissioner was accompanied by Deputy Director of Consular Department Mr. Xu Min and Third Secretary Miss Chen Wenjing, Consul-General Dr. Lekhak was accompanied by Consul Mr. Satish Gurung.
