Rs 638 million mountaineering revenue collected during spring season ascent

Number of mountain climbers has been increasing in recent period. According to the Department of Tourism, a total of Rs 638 million in revenue was collected from mountaineering expeditions climbing different mountains and peaks from March 1-April 21 (spring climbing season) of the current fiscal year.

Forty-one people including 26 men and 15 women successfully climbed Mt Kanchenjunga, the third tallest mountain (8,556 meters) in the world, located at Taplejung in spring season. A total of Rs 10.97 million was collected as royalty from this.

Similarly, 66 climbers successfully reached the top of Mt Makalu located in Sankhuwasabha during the season and Rs 16.26 million in revenue was collected from it.

Likewise, 374 people—302 men and 72 women scaled the world's tallest mountain, Sagarmatha, during the spring season and revenue of Rs 554 million was collected from the climbing.

In the spring climbing season, 869 mountaineers—678 men and 191 women, including Nepalis and foreigners—had successfully scaled 23 mountains and peaks during the spring season and Rs 6
