Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has tendered his resignation following public outrage over the government's severe crackdown on Gen Z protests.

Home Minister Lekhak submitted his resignation to Prime Minister KP Sharma KP Sharma Oli a while ago.

Earlier, an office-bearers' meeting of Nepali Congress decided that the Home Minister Lekhak should take the responsibility for the casualties and tender resignation on the moral ground.

The excessive force used by the government today to suppress the Gen Z protest has been heavily criticized.

The protests, which took place in Kathmandu and other cities, led to 19 deaths—17 in the Kathmandu Valley and two in Itahari. Additionally, over 250 people were injured. Protesters had also entered the Parliament building in Baneshwor.
