Bhatbhateni Supermarket complexes located across the country were pillaged and burned down by protestors on September 9.

The supermarket owned by entrepreneur Min Bahadur Gurung suffered a huge loss due to arson attacks, vandalism and pillaging during the demonstration staged by Gen Z against corruption, irregularities, nepotism and social media media ban.

The complexes have been located at 28 different places including outside the Kathmandu Valley. According to Panu Paudel, the Chief Operating Officer of Bhatbhateni, seven complexes did not suffer any loss but the others were either vandalized or burned down. "Some stores are still burning," said Panu Poudel.

However, it will take two to four weeks for the total loss assessment with value, he said.
