Newly appointed Prime Minister Sushila Karki has dissolved the House of Representatives (HoR) as her first decision in office.
The decision addresses a key demand of the Gen Z movement. The dissolution was approved during the first cabinet meeting held at Sheetal Niwas on Friday night, immediately after the oath of office and secrecy ceremony.
As no other members were appointed to Karki's interim cabinet, the meeting, attended solely by her, made the decision to dissolve parliament.
She informed Nepalkhabar that she recommended the dissolution of parliament and the President ratified it.
"The House has been dissolved. I made the recommendation and the President ratified it," the newly appointed Prime Minister Karki told Nepalkhabar."We will now hold discussions tomorrow and expand the cabinet."
