Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated newly appointed Prime Minister of Nepal, Sushila Karki.
Taking to X, Prime Minister Modi said this morning, " I extend my best wishes to Right Hon. Mrs. Sushila Karki on assuming office as the Prime Minister of the Interim Government of Nepal. India remains firmly committed to the peace, progress and prosperity of the people of Nepal."
Ms Karki was appointed as the new Prime Minister of the interim government of Nepal with the backing of the Gen Z uprising that toppled the Oli-led government.
Following an agreement with the representatives of the Gen Z groups, and the Chief of Army Staff, President Ramchandra Paudel appointed Ms Karki as the Prime Minister of the interim government of Nepal.
She has been mandated to hold the general elections on March 5, 2026.
