The prohibitory order and curfew that had been imposed in the Kathmandu Valley for the past 6 days have been lifted since this morning.

The Nepali Army had been issuing notices since September 9, providing information about the curfew and prohibitory order.

With the lifting of the curfew and prohibitory order, life in the Kathmandu Valley has returned to normal, gradually.

After the Gen Z movement reached its peak, the local administration had issued curfew and prohibitory orders in various districts of the country, including the Kathmandu Valley, since the afternoon of September 8.

In line with the spirit of the Gen Z uprising, President Ramchandra Paudel appointed Sushila Karki as the Prime Minister on Thursday night.

She has been mandated to hold elections in the next six months. The date for holding general elections has been set for March 5, 2026.
