China has congratulated Ms Sushila Karki on becoming the Prime Minister of the interim government of Nepal.
Issuing a press note on Sunday, the Foreign Ministry of China said, "China congratulates Madam Sushila Karki on becoming Prime Minister of Nepal’s interim government."
China also has expressed its readiness to work with Nepal to enhance exchanges and cooperation in various fields and further bilateral relations.
"We stand ready to work with Nepal to promote the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, enhance exchanges and cooperation in various fields, and further advance bilateral relations," reads the press note," China and Nepal share a time-honored friendship. China, as always, respects the development path chosen independently by the people of Nepal."
Former Chief Justice Sushila Karki was appointed as the Prime Minister of the interim government of Nepal on Friday following the Gen Z uprising that toppled the Oli-led government.
On the recommendation of new Prime Minister Karki, President Ramchandra Paudel has dissolved the Federal Parliament and set March 5, 2026 for holding the general elections.
