Surya Nepal Pvt. Ltd. has addressed recent misinformation circulating on social media regarding additional electricity charges from the load-shedding period. The company confirmed that it has fully settled all its dues with the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) and, in fact, has paid in excess.

In a public statement, Surya Nepal clarified that the additional charges were only applicable for the period from mid-December 2015 to mid-May 2018, as per a cabinet decision dated May 9, 2024. The company stated that it has already paid all charges for this duration, as per NEA's directives.

"We would like to clarify that Surya Nepal has already paid all dues in this regard, as advised by NEA," the statement reads. "Furthermore, as per the decision of the Council of Ministers dated 2081/01/27, since additional charges are applicable only for the period from Paush 2072 to Baishakh 2075, it has been determined that Surya Nepal has, in fact, paid in excess."

The company urged the public to stop sharing misleading information, emphasizing its commitment to complying with all laws and regulations issued by the Government of Nepal.

The company's clarification comes amidst social media discussions about industries using trunk lines during past load-shedding periods and the associated unpaid electricity bills.
