Additional Health Secretary at the Ministry of Health and Population, Dr Sangita Kaushal Mishra, who had been on leave, has been recommended as the Health Minister.
With the recommendation, Mishra, senior obstetrician and gynecologist, is likely to lead the Ministry of Health and Population.
Sexual and reproductive health expert, Dr Mishra has also served as the Director General of the Department of Health Services as well as the Director of Paropakar Maternity Women's Hospital (Prashuti Griha).
She has been serving as the additional health secretary for the last three years. According to a source at the Council of Ministers, she has resigned from her post after being poised to become the Health Minister.
She had been on leave after Dr Bikash Devkota was promoted to the post of secretary last year.
The officials of the then government had said that her disputed citizenship was the reason she was not promoted to the post of secretary.
