Rainfall continues across country, heavier rainfall in Kailali

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Meteorological Forecasting Division, the country is experiencing significant rainfall since early this morning.

Rainfall has increased since the morning, leading to flooding in various regions. In the past one hour, Kathmandu received 6 mm, Lalitpur 9.8 mm, and Bhaktapur 5 mm of rainfall. The Department has reported that rain is currently focused in the Terai regions including districts around the valley. In the past hour, Parsa received 10 mm and Rautahat 10.6 mm of rainfall. Rain has also been reported in Mahottari and Dhanusha.

In the last 12 hours, the highest rainfall was recorded in Garbama, Kailali, with 83.2 millimeters, according to information officer Dinkar Kayastha of the department.

According to him, in the same 12 hours, 40 mm of rain fell in Parsa and 28 mm in Bara. The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has already issued a warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall today and tomorrow. It is expected that there will be even more rainfall during the night. Currently, light to moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning is occurring in many places in Bagmati Province and Madhesh Province, in some places in Gandaki Province and Lumbini Province, and in a few places in Koshi Province.

The rainfall-inducing system is moving in the east-northeast direction, and since the rain will continue in those areas, people are requested to exercise caution and stay updated with the latest weather information.
