Six killed, six injured in Tamor corridor Bolero jeep plunge

Six people have died and six others sustained critical injuries after a Bolero jeep met with an accident at Kattike in Kummayak Rural Municipality-3, Panchthar on Saturday afternoon.

According to Yubaraj Paudel, a passenger from another vehicle, the accident occurred when the ill-fated jeep, Me 1 Ja 3055,was heading to Dharan, carrying 12 passengers from Mikwakhola Rural Municipality-4, Sanwa, Taplejung.

The injured have been ferried to Dharan for treatment. They are currently undergoing treatment at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences. The identified of the deceased and the injured are yet to be ascertained.

The jeep skidded off the road and fell some 500 meters down the slippery road into the Tamor River, the police said.

A team of security personnel with the help of locals carried out the rescue work. The bodies of deceased, three women and three men, are being retrieved from the accident site, according to Paudel.

The identities of the deceased are yet to be ascertained.

The exact cause of the accident is not known yet.
