Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has conducted a rescue flight to Gautam Buddha International Airport in Bhairahawa.
Although the flight was scheduled to depart from Kathmandu at 1:00 pm, the corporation's A320 aircraft departed for Bhairahawa after a slight delay.
Hansraj Pandey, General Manager of Nepal Airlines Corporation, informed Nepalkhabar that they carried out a rescue flight to Bhairahawa.
According to NAC Spokesperson Subash Dangi, the delay in the rescue flight was due to the time it took for the aircraft to arrive in Kathmandu from Dubai.
He informed that the NAC aircraft took 78 passengers from Kathmandu to Bhairahawa.
He added that the aircraft is returning to Kathmandu from Bhairahawa with 157 passengers.
"The aircraft has probably departed from Bhairahawa for Kathmandu; it took 78 passengers from here. It is returning to Kathmandu with 157 passengers on board the plane," Dangi said.
The corporation conducted the rescue flight to Bhairahawa following a special directive from Prime Minister Sushila Karki.
Although the corporation had planned to conduct the flight on Sunday, they had announced it would only be possible on Monday. NAC had set the airfare at Rs 5,000 for the flight from Kathmandu and Rs 7,000 for the flight from Bhairahawa.
