The District Police Range, Kathmandu has forwarded a complaint, demanding the arrest of former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and his cabinet's Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, to the Gauri Bahadur Karki-led Commission.

Families of those injured in the Gen Z movement confirmed that the Kathmandu Police Range sent the First Information Report (FIR) to the government-formed Commission.

"We accepted the complaint and forwarded it to the Commission headed by Gauri Bahadur Karki," said SP Pawan Bhattarai from the Range to Nepalkhabar. "This is not within our jurisdiction. We have sent it to the Commission responsible for this area."

Oli and Lekhak were serving as Prime Minister and Home Minister, respectively, during the Gen Z protests on September 8 and 9. Gen Z activists have also launched a social media campaign calling for their arrest.

Previously, Gen Z representatives, including Hami Nepal Chairman Sudhan Gurung, had already piled pressure on the government to immediately arrest Oli and Lekhak.

Additionally, Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah had met with Prime Minister Sushila Karki and urged the latter to immediately make the arrests of those involved in the shooting and killing of the people in the Gen Z protests. Following the pressure from Gen Z and Mayor Shah, the government held a meeting with security chiefs late last night.
