The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has stated that the status of Bipin Joshi, a Nepali national taken hostage by Hamas, remains unknown.
Issuing a press note on Monday, the Ministry stated that although it was expected that Bipin's name would be on the list of those to be released today, the Israeli army informed in a virtual meeting that his name was not included among the hostages to be released and that his condition remains unknown.
"This morning, at 7:30 am local time in Israel, the Israeli army organized a virtual meeting with the Nepali Ambassador to Israel, Bipin Joshi's elder brother, mother, sister, officials from the Israeli Foreign Ministry, and the Israeli Prime Minister's Office, and informed that Bipin Joshi's name was not included among the hostages to be released today and that his status remains unknown," the statement said.
The Ministry further stated that it will continue to provide updates on the matter until the process of releasing all live hostages held captive by Hamas and handing over the bodies of the deceased prisoners is complete.
Hamas had taken 251 individuals including Bipin hostage to Gaza during the October 7, 2023 attack on Israel.
