The body of the Nepali hostage in Gaza, Bipin Joshi, has been handed over by Hamas to Israel.
Late on Monday, Hamas transferred the bodies of four individuals, including Bipin, to Israel via the Red Cross.
According to The Times of Israel, the Israeli military confirmed that they had received the bodies of four individuals, including Bipin, through the Red Cross.
The Israeli military stated that the bodies received are those of Guy Illouz, Yossi Sharabi, and Daniel Perez, along with Bipin.
All four bodies have been taken to the Abu Kabir Forensic Institute in Tel Aviv, the capital of Israel, for forensic testing. Officials stated that the process of identifying the bodies has begun at the institute.
Hamas now has the bodies of 24 deceased hostages left to be returned.
Hamas had already handed over 20 living hostages to Israel on Monday. At that time, the status of the Nepali student, Bipin, was said to be unknown.
However, as the time of returning the deceased hostages approached, Hamas suddenly confirmed Bipin's death and announced that they would return his body as well.
Bipin, a resident of Bhimdatta Municipality-3, Bhansi, Kanchanpur, had gone to Israel in in early September 2023, as part of a team of 49 students from Tikapur Agriculture Campus, Kailali, under the 'Learn and Earn' program.
Meanwhile, on October 7, 2023, when Hamas attacked Israel, 10 Nepali students were killed, and Bipin was abducted. Bipin was taken hostage by Hamas and whisked to Gaza while attempting to save a friend by deflecting a 'grenade' thrown by Hamas.
Seventeen Nepali students were staying in the agricultural farm in the Kibbutz area. With the confirmation of Bipin's death, the number of Nepalis killed in the Hamas attack has reached 11.
