Nepal has clinched a 38-run win over Oman in the 17th match of the Super Six under the ICC T20 World Cup Asia and EAP Qualifiers held in Oman.
Nepal restricted Oman to 113/9 runs in the allotted 20 overs while the latter was chasing the 152-run target.
To restrict the opponent from reaching the target, Gulshan Jha took 3 wickets followed by Sompal Kami and Nandan Yadav with 2 wickets each while Sandeep Lamichhane grabbed 1 wicket for Nepal.
Mohammad Vinayak Shukla's 32-run score was the highest for Oman. Shukla scored 1 four and 3 sixes off 19 deliveries. Similarly, Mohammad Nadeem scored 25 runs while Jatinder Singh and Hammad Mirza contributed 14 and 11 runs, respectively. The other batsmen could not score significant runs.
Earlier, electing to bat first after winning the toss at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground in Oman on Wednesday, Nepal notched up 151 runs losing 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
Kushal Bhurtel topped the score with 69 runs including 7 fours and 1 six off 51 balls. Similarly, Aasif Sheikh scored 24 runs including 2 fours and 1 six off 20 deliveries while Gulsan Jha and Adil Ansari contributed 18 and 14 runs, respectively. The other batsmen could not achieve significant runs.
On the bowling side, Nadeem Khan took the highest 4 wickets for 20 runs while Sufyan Mehmood and Jitenkumar Ramanandi grabbed 2 wickets each for Oman.
Both Nepal and Oman already qualified for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 ahead of two matches remaining in the Super Six.
Nepal has now qualified for the T20 World Cup for the second time in a row, marking their third appearance overall in the tournament. Nepal advanced into the T20 World Cup this time after UAE defeated Samoa with a wide margin of 77 runs.
Earlier, Nepal had qualified for ICC T20 World Cup in 2014 for the first time, and in 2024 for the second time.
