The outgoing Chief Minister of Madhesh Province, Satish Kumar Singh, has quit Janamat Party led by Chandra Kanta (CK) Raut.
Singh, who resigned as Chief Minister on Tuesday, chose Janaswaraj Party, a new party formed following the split of the Janamat Party, on Wednesday. He is currently holding a press conference in Janakpur to provide information on this matter.
After Satish Kumar Singh, who became Chief Minister from Janamat, resigned, Loktantrik Samajwadi Party (LSP) leader Jitendra Sonal has already been appointed as the Chief Minister of Madhesh Province.
Singh, along with two provincial assembly members of Janamat, went to the Provincial Election Office in Janakpur on Wednesday itself and chose Janaswaraj Party. Outgoing Chief Minister Singh and Janamat's lawmaker Tribhuvan Sah, who is also a former minister, have chosen the new party. They have also stated that their support will remain with Jitendra Sonal.
"Yesterday, I and Tribhuvan Sah-ji joined Janaswaraj Party," Singh told Nepalkhabar, "Even though we have chosen a new party, our support will remain with Jitendra Sonal."
