Nepal has won the title of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Asia and East Asia Pacific Qualifiers held in Oman by beating Samoa by 124 runs.
Nepal restricted Samoa to 87/7 runs in the allotted 20 overs while the latter was chasing the mammoth 212-run target.
To restrict the opponent to such a low target, Lalit Rajbanshi took the highest 3 runs for 13 runs while Karan KC, Sandeep Lamichhane and captain Rohit Paudel grabbed 1 wicket each for Nepal.
Sean Solia's 40-run score was the highest for Samoa. Solia hit 2 fours and 1 six off 37 balls. Similarly, Benjamin Mailata scored 11 runs off 14 balls while Samson Sola and captain Caleb Jasmat contributed 9 runs each. The other batsmen could not score significant runs.
Earlier, invited to bat first after losing the toss at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground in Oman on Friday, Nepal notched up mammoth 211 runs losing 4 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
Aasif Sheikh topped the score with 69 runs studded with 7 fours and 4 sixes off 41 deliveries. Similarly, Dipendra Singh Airee scored 53 runs including 2 fours and 4 sixes off 33 balls while Lokesh Bam and captain Rohit Paudel and Kushal Bhurtel 39, 21 and 17 runs runs, respectively.
In reply, Daniel Burgess, Saumani Tiai, Darius Visser and Noah Mead took 1 wicket each for Samoa.
Nepal is on the top spot of the points table with 10 points. Similarly, Oman in second place with eight points and UAE in third place with six points.
Nepal, UAE and Oman have already qualified for T20 World Cup to be organized in India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 8, 2026.
Nepal had entered the Super Six by defeating Japan and Qatar in Group-stage matches and remained unbeaten in Super Six. Japan, Qatar and Samoa have crashed out of the Qualifiers. Samoa could not win even a single match in the Super Six.
