UML endorses political report, decides to hold 11th convention on Dec 13-15

The CPN UML has decided to hold its 11th general convention in Pokhara city on December 13-15. The 10th central committee meeting of the UML held at Bhanimandal, Lalitpur unanimously passed the proposal of holding the general convention on the slated date. Publicity department chief of the party, Rajendra Gautam, informed that Chairman KP Sharma Oli responded to the queries and suggestions of the central members raised during the concluding day on Friday.

The three-day meeting decided to demand restoration of the legislature parliament. It also made a decision on mobilization of public. There is no option but to launch people's movement for bringing country and democracy back to track, he said, calling on all political parties and people for their help in this bid. The central committee meeting was held for the first time after the Gen Z protest, formation of new government and dissolution of the House of Representatives.

 It also passed the 22-point special report on current political development and party policy presented by Chairman Oli. Chairman's report has included the topics like Gen Z protest, arson on parliament building, firing, the September 9 scourge, present interim government, dissolution of House of Representatives, peace and security, good governance and election.

The party is for making party internally unified. In this the three-day meeting, 233 central members, eight from province committee, 46 politburo members, 21 standing committee members, three from central bodies and 17 office bearers furnished suggestions to the party leadership. Most of them spoke for party unity and had a unified voice for protection of democracy at this critical hour. The party resolved on reviving political stability, social harmony and national unity by ending present uncertainty.

The meeting expressed grief over the loss of lives and property, paid tribute to the citizens and security persons who died during the Gen Z protest, extended condolence to the bereaved families and wished speedy recovery to the injured ones. It reiterated that the September 9 scourge was coordinated by organizing September 8 protest. Both of these incidents must be probed fairly and facts brought to light and those involved brought to book. The UML said it was ready to hold meaningful discussions with youths for country's development and prosperity.
