President Ramchandra Paudel has instructed the government and chiefs of security agencies to assure political parties and the general public that the election will be held in a fearless, free, fair, and impartial environment.
Paudel gave this instruction during a meeting held at the Office of the President in Sheetal Niwas, which was attended by Prime Minister Sushila Karki and other ministers.
The President also instructed the security bodies to act 'boldly' to maintain peace and security and to ensure a fearless environment for the election, said the President's Press Advisor, Kiran Pokharel.
President Paudel also called for the immediate return of the looted weapons and the escaped prisoners that occurred on September 9.
In response, Prime Minister Karki stated that the government would leave no stone unturned to hold the election in a free, fair, and fearless environment.
She expressed commitment that the government would provide all necessary logistics and equipment required by the security bodies for them to work with full preparedness.
The chiefs of the security bodies, in turn, assured President Paudel that they are capable of maintaining peace and security and successfully conducting the election in a fearless environment.
Recalling that they had successfully conducted peaceful elections in even more difficult circumstances in the past, they assured that the security bodies are completely ready for the election.
The discussion was attended by Prime Minister Karki, all ministers except the Finance Minister, as well as the Chief of Army Staff Ashok Raj Sigdel, Inspector General of Police Chandra Kuber Khapung, Inspector General of Armed Police Raju Aryal, and Chief of the National Investigation Department Tekendra Karki.
