Bipin Joshi's last rites performed on Mahakali River bank (photos)

The last rites of Bipin Joshi were performed on the bank of the Mahakali River this morning with state honors.

Prior to that, Chief District Officer Laxman Dhakal paid his last respects to Bipin by draping a national flag over him. During the funeral procession before the final rites, the staff of the Israeli Embassy in Nepal paid their respects to Bipin by draping the National Flag of Israel over him.

Similarly, a contingent of the Armed Police Force presented him with a guard of honour, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Sagar Bohora of the District Police Office, Kanchanpur.

Local representatives, officials from administrative bodies and security agencies, along with a large number of residents, gathered to bid a final farewell to Joshi, who lost his life while being held hostage by the Hamas group for the past two years.

His remains were brought to his residence at Bhimdatta Municipality-3 on Monday evening from Israel, where he had gone as an agricultural student under the 'Learn and Earn' program.

During the Hamas attack in Israel two years ago, 10 Nepali students had also lost their lives. With Bipin's death, the number of Nepalis killed in the Iraq-Hamas war has reached 11.
