One person died and nine others sustained injuries when a bus and a car collided in the Tikauli forest of Ratnanagar Municipality-9, Chitwan, on Tuesday evening.
According to the District Police Office, Chitwan, the accident occurred when a minibus with registration number Na 3 Kha 9986, which was heading to Tandi from from Narayangadh, collided head-on with a car coming from the opposite direction.
According to DSP Rabindra Khanal, the spokesperson of the DPO, Chitwan, Puja Subedi, 33, of Ratnanagar-10, a passenger on the bus, died while undergoing treatment at Bharatpur Hospital.
Nine people, including the bus driver, were injured in the accident. They are undergoing treatment at Chitwan Medical College in Bharatpur, police said.
Among the injured, the condition of bus driver Suraj Kandel, 36, of Ratnanagar-2, is normal.
Similarly, those with minor injuries include Bhoj Raj Kapri, 32, of Gandaki Rural Municipality-5, Gorkha; Prabhu Narayan Mahato, 27, of Ratnanagar-7, and his 8-year-old son Riyans Mahato; Sita Tamang, 35, of Thopre Rural Municipality-4, Nuwakot; Shobha Acharya, 37, of Bharatpur Metropolitan City-12, and her 3-year-old daughter Sadiksha Acharya; Sabita Rai, 28, of Rapti Municipality-3; and Maita Gurung, 55, of Barpak Sulikot Rural Municipality-3, Gorkha.
Police have arrested Subash Bhandari, 44, of Tarkeshwar Municipality-10, Kathmandu, the driver of the car involved in the accident.
Both vehicles have been taken under control for investigation, the police said.
