Sudan Gurung, the coordinator of 'Hami Nepal,' has strongly denied accusations that he is a foreign agent, asserting he is a Nepali citizen and that his citizenship records can be verified.
He made these remarks on Thursday at a Gen Z United event at Maitighar, held in memory of those who died during the Gen Z movement, claiming attempts are being made to divide the youth.
Gurung declared that his organization, 'Hami Nepal,' is a non-profit, not an NGO, and that they are fighting for the country. He demanded that if there is an investigation into the Gen Z movement's wrongdoings, it should start with former Industry Minister Mahesh Basnet's citizenship and property. He argued, "Those who fired the bullets cannot tell us to investigate ourselves."
He claimed that the arson attacks during the movement was a result of infiltration by Nepali Congress and CPN-UML party workers setting fire to each other's property, a point echoed by NC leaders Gagan Thapa and Shekhar Koirala. He stated that the Gen Z movement was a reaction to 80 years of national misgovernance, urging patience with the current government.
Gurung criticized former Prime Minister KP Oli for failing to deliver on tall promises. He warned that electing the old parties in the next election would set the country back a hundred years, believing the Nepali public now knows who to vote for after the Gen Z movement.
He also mentioned that when they questioned Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal about the lack of action against those who fired the bullets, they were informed that the investigation process is underway, and party workers involved in arson attacks are being arrested. Gurung concluded by reiterating, "KP Oli ordered the firing of bullets... we cannot be blamed for that."
