Durga Prasai, the coordinator of the "National Campaign to Save Nation, Nationality, Religion, Culture, and Citizens," has submitted a letter expressing his readiness to hold talks with the government.
Prasai on Sunday handed over the letter during a discussion with the Chief District Officers (CDOs) of Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur, as well as the chiefs of all security agencies, indicating his willingness to engage in dialogue with the Ministry of Home Affairs. This follows a prior call from the Home Ministry for Prasai and other protesting groups to seek a solution through negotiation.
During the discussion, Kathmandu CDO Ishwar Raj Paudel advised Prasai against proceeding with the protest, warning that it could be personally dangerous. Paudel told Nepalkhabar that the government's door for dialogue on legitimate demands is always open. He urged Prasai to reconsider the agitation due to the still-risky environment, stating, "A protest is not necessary for your security, society's security, peace, and order." Prasai subsequently confirmed there were no immediate programs planned, acknowledging that the government had responsibly called for talks.
CDO Paudel confirmed receiving the letter expressing Prasai's desire for dialogue, which will be forwarded to the Ministry of Home Affairs. The CDOs also raised concerns regarding Prasai's previous threatening statements and social media posts.
Prasai, however, responded that he was not in favor of immediately starting a protest.
