The Nepali Congress (NC) Tehrathum-Kathmandu Samparka Samiti has elected a new nine-member executive committee under the presidency of Bhawani Prasad Kafle.
The fifth convention of the Samparka Samiti convened at Indreni Suites Hotel in New Baneshwar on Saturday elected the new liaison committee with Kalfe as the president unopposed.
Similarly, Nishchal Ningleku was elected as the vice president, Kulchand Phombo as the secretary and Baliraj Ingnam was elected as the treasure.
The committee members include Lakpa Sherpa, Dipesh Phombo, Bishnu Acharya, Ram Bahadur Limbu and Bimal Kandangwa. The term of the committee will be for two years.
Speaking at the event, newly elected President Kafle said the committee will do its level best to establish a link between the district and central committees.
"The Committee will leave no stones unturned in establishing a link between the party district and central committees in line with the direction of the district party committee," said Kafle, "The ninth-member committee will be extended at the earliest as per the party statute."
When asked why the Committee was formed so abruptly, President Kafle made it clear that the ad-hock committee formed under his presidency with the mandate to hold a convention within six months was expiring on November 1. Moreover, the Gen Z movement had made the country's situation so volatile that organizing a huge gathering was too risky.
Speaking on the occasion, former President of Nepali Congress Tehrathum District Working Committee, Ram Narayan Dhungana, congratulated the new working committee and expressed hope that it would actively work as per the direction of the district working committee while forging unity in the party.
Similarly, former minister (Constituent Assembly and NC Mahasamiti member) Tulasi Subba, NC general convention representatives Hari Dangi, Rudra Kandangwa, Tehrathum District Working Committee secretary Dilli Nepal, general convention representative and Mahasamiti member Ram Krishna Lakandri, Samparka Samiti Advisor Bijaya Kumar Mademba had expressed their views in the event.
