The Traffic Control Room located at Ramshah Path in Kathmandu, which was destroyed during the Gen Z movement, has been reconstructed and handed over to the Traffic Police by the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA).
Mahesh Kumar Shrestha, Vice-President of NRNA, on Tuesday, handed over the control room to Additional Inspector General of Police (AIG) Dan Bahadur Karki amidst a special program.
Shrestha stated that assisting the motherland during times of disaster or crisis is the responsibility of Non-Resident Nepalis, and informed that the control room was reconstructed with a long-term perspective.
"This control room not only includes improvements but also focuses on long-term sustainability and the ease of the operator," he said. "Modern technology has been incorporated here, drawing inspiration from the Smart Traffic Management Systems of cities like Singapore, Dubai, and London."
During the program, Additional Inspector General of Police Karki expressed gratitude to the NRNA and described the reconstruction as an example of 'love for the motherland.'
He said, "I sincerely thank the Non-Resident Nepali Association for completing this work. Even after leaving the country, the concern and worry for the nation seem to increase."
According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, coordination and control of traffic management for Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur are operated from this control room.
