Nepal has set a 234-run target for UAE in the second match of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup League 2 underway in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Electing to bat first after winning the toss at the ICC Academy ground in Dubai on Thursday, Nepal notched up 233 runs losing all wickets in the allotted 50 overs.
Captain Rohit Paudel topped the score with a century of 109 runs studded with 5 fours and 2 sixes off 130 deliveries. Similarly, Aasif Shiekh scored 35 runs followed by Aarif Sheikh with 27 runs while Dipendra Singh Airee and Karan KC contributed 23 and 13 runs, respectively. The other batsmen could not achieve significant runs.
On the bowling side, Zahid Ali claimed the highest 4 wicket for 41 runs followed by Junaid Siddique with 3 wickets while Muhammad Rohid and Haider Ali grabbed 1 wicket each for UAE.
Both the teams have played 17 matches so far under League 2 and remain in the bottom two of the points table. Nepal stands in the 7th position with 12 points while UAE is in 8th position with 6 points. Having played 22 matches, USA leads the points table with 32 points so far.
In the previous match held on October 26, Nepal lost to USA by 106 runs.
Led by Rohit Paudel, the Nepali national cricket team is coached by former Australian cricket Stuart Law.
