The Supreme Court of Nepal on Wednesday upheld an administrative decision to reject a writ petition challenging the appointment of Chief Justice Dr Manoj Kumar Sharma.

A five-member constitutional bench formally sustained the filing-stage dismissal of writ previously issued by the Supreme Court administration against the petition filed by Advocate Gita Thapa.

The petitioner had then moved the Constitutional Bench seeking to overturn the administration's filing-stage dismissal of the lawsuit against the Chief Justice's appointment.

The Constitutional Bench that endorsed the order included Chief Justice Manoj Kumar Sharma himself, alongside Justices Kumar Regmi, Binod Sharma, Abdul Aziz Musalman, and Mahesh Sharma Paudel.
