A writ petition has been filed in the Supreme Court demanding the release of CPN (UML) Vice Chairman and former Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel.
Paudel's wife Tomaya Paudel on Wednesday, filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court seeking custodial interrogation. The writ petition alleges that Paudel has been illegally detained and demands his release.
The writ petition names the Special Court, the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Money Laundering Investigation Department and the District Police Office, Surkhet as defendants.
Paudel was arrested from Sova Hotel in Surkhet on Monday on charges of money laundering. He was produced before the Special Court in Kathmandu on Tuesday.
The Special Court has granted permission for his seven-day detention for investigation. The Money Laundering Investigation Department is investigating him.
