The weather is likely to improve as the effects of Cyclone ‘Montha’ in Nepal have subsided starting today.
According to a weather bulletin issued by the Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology at 8:00 am today, Nepal is now only under the influence of the westerly wind and a low-pressure system formed over the Arabian Sea.
Previously, the impact of Cyclone 'Montha', which developed in the Bay of Bengal, had caused continuous rainfall in Nepal since last Wednesday, akin to the monsoon season. The MFD has stated that the effect of the cyclone is no longer present starting today.
However, even though the continuous rainfall is expected to subside, the MFD has projected that the influence of the westerly wind and the low-pressure system over the Arabian Sea will still cause rain and snowfall in various parts of the country today. The rainfall is still occurring in places like the Kathmandu Valley and other various parts of the country even now.
The Division has stated that the Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces will generally be cloudy, while the remaining provinces will have partly cloud cover.
This afternoon, a few places in Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces, some places in Koshi and Madhesh provinces, and one or two places in Karnali province are likely to receive light rain.
The Division has indicated that a few places in the high hill and mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces may receive moderate snowfall, and one or two places in the high hilly and mountainous areas of Karnali province may experience light snowfall.
Tonight, Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces will generally remain cloudy, while the remaining provinces will have partly cloudy skies.
A few places in the hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces are likely to experience light rain or snowfall.
