President Ramchandra Paudel, who embarked on a four-day official visit to Qatar at the invitation of the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, has landed in Doha.
Leading a Nepali delegation including First Lady Sabita, President Paudel landed at the Hamad International Airport in Doha a while ago.
Nepali Ambassador to Qatar, Ramesh Chandra Paudel and the officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Qatar welcomed President Paudel at the airport.
Paudel will address the main session of the United Nations Second World Summit for the Social Development on November 4 (Tuesday). He will raise issues on development inequality, population imbalance and the technology impact on the society in the session, it is learnt.
He is also expected to hold meetings with the Emir of Qatar, UN Secretary General, Antonio Quterres, among others on the sidelines of the Summit.
The First World Summit of the Social Development had been held in Copenhagen of Denmark in 1995.
The Second World Summit is being held in Doha in line with the Resolution (78/261) 78/318 adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on February 26, 2024.
Nepal had joined the United Nations as a member in 1955.
Paudel will return home on November 6, wrapping up his 4-day official visit to Qatar.
