The government has promoted five police officers to the posts of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Nepal Police.
A meeting chaired by Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal on Monday decided to promote Bhupendra Khatri, Sanuram Bhattarai, Om Adhikari, Shekhar Khanal and Abinarayan Kafle as DIGs.
The promotion committee under the Ministry of Home Affairs had recommended them for promotion one week ago.
The three-member promotion committee is chaired by Home Secretary while the secretary at the Office of Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers and Inspector General of Police serve as member and member-secretary, respectively.
The promoted DIGs have also been assigned their responsibilities.
According to decision, Khatri has been posted to the Central Investigation of Bureau (CIB), Saniram Bhattarai to the Crime Investigation Department, Adhikari to the Kathmandu Valley Police Office, Khanal to the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority, and Kafle has been posted to the Secretariat of the Inspector General of the Police, the Home Ministry said.
