Three people were confirmed dead, four sustained injuries and eight others went missing in the avalanche that occurred near the base camp of Yalung Ri peak, according to Assistant Chief District Officer Aulakh Bahadur Ale.

The incident site is approximately 250km north-east from the Kathmandu Valley,

Although efforts were made yesterday afternoon to rescue the injured and search for the missing, the mission was unsuccessful due to poor weather conditions. Hence, the rescue operations started only this morning.
