The government has dismissed Madhesh Province Chief Sumitra Bhandari. A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Monday evening decided to relieve Bhandari of her post as Province Chief and recommend Surendra Labh Karna for the post.
Karna will take charge as the Province Chief Now once President Ramchandra Poudel will endorse the appointment made by the government.
Bhandari had appointed Saroj Kumar Yadav as the Chief Minister of Madhesh Province on Monday morning. Without calling for his claim to the post of the Chief Minister, Bhandari appointed Yadav at the Panas Hotel in Bardibas, Mahottari, and administered him the oath of office and secrecy.
She said that she had appointed Yadav in the capacity of the largest party.
Yadav's appointment as the Chief Minister has drawn flacks from various quarters. Seven parties, including Nepali Congress, have vandalized and locked the offices of the Province Chief and the Chief Minister.
A writ petition has been filed in the Supreme Court against the formation of the government, demanding the cancellation of the appointment as the Chief Minister.
