CPN General Secretary Netra Bikram Chand Biplav has announced its separation from the Socialist Front.
Issuing a statement on Wednesday morning, Biplav said, "In the year 2023, we formed the Socialist Front involving four parties in Nepal. The Front, which was established with the objective of safeguarding national sovereignty, bringing about progressive transformation of the state, working in favor of people's livelihood, and initiating struggles against corruption, could not gain momentum as expected."
Stating that there have been widespread changes in Nepal's political environment and perspectives after the Gen Z uprising, he mentioned that all political parties are now participating in new kinds of unity and alliances.
"New and broad-level debates have become necessary and have already begun. The three parties affiliated with the Socialist Front have already united to form the Nepali Communist Party," the statement says, adding, "In such a situation, CPN has concluded that the relevance of Socialist Front in its current political scenario has ended. Based on this conclusion, we inform that our popular party, CPN, has separated from the Socialist Front."
Socialist Front was formed on June 19, 2023 by parties including Maoist Center, Unified Socialist, CPN led by Biplav, and Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) led by Upendra Yadav. JSP, led by Upendra Yadav, had already exited the Front.
