"The regular general convention could be held, but you all backed out, citing membership issues," he said, "That is why the chapter of the regular convention is now closed. Now a special convention will be held on December 13."
He also said that NC will emerge as a new entity through upcoming general convention. "Nepali Congress will emerge as a new entity through the general convention. It will undergo transformations according to the demands of the new generation."
Thapa further said that going to the election without a convention means going to seek mandate without admitting its mistakes and weaknesses. "In such a situation, the people will not support us. The character of NC is not to spread excitement like other parties, but to handle it," he said.
Thapa also said that he would take the responsibility that fell to him since NC was in the government during the Gen Z movement on September 8.
