Twenty-five central working committee (CWC) members of the establishment of Nepali Congress have submitted a memorandum to the central party office in Sanepa on Friday, demanding that the party's 15th General Convention be held before the House of Representatives elections.
They, who are in the group of President Sher Bahadur Deuba at the 14th general convention, have stated that the party's 15th general convention should begin by December 1 to make the March 5 election more result-oriented.
"To make the upcoming March 5 election more result-oriented, the 15th General Convention should be started from December 1 in accordance with the party's statute and a schedule will be prepared and implemented to complete the general convention," reads the memorandum.
The memorandum similarly demands that the renewal and distribution of active membership cards be the essential first step toward completing the general convention, and this work must be completed within a specified timeframe.
Similarly, it has been demanded that the statute be amended to ensure significant representation of youth, that the interim election committee of the party be completed immediately, and that the meaningful participation of youth, women, Dalits, indigenous peoples, Tharu, Madheshi, Muslims, people from backward regions and classes, and people with disabilities be ensured in the party structure at all levels in the 15th General Convention.
They have also demanded that youth be made candidates in local, provincial, and federal level elections according to the principle of proportional inclusion and the spirit of the Gen Z movement.
