Supreme Court stays Madhesh Speaker's decision to dismiss five MPs

The Supreme Court of Nepal has issued an order directing the Speaker of Madesh Province not to immediately relieve five lawmakers of their posts.

A single bench of Justice Nityananda Pandey on Monday issued the order staying the decision of the Speaker of Madhesh Province Assembly, Ramchandra Mandal, to dismiss the five lawmakers

Speaker Mandal on November 13 had relieved five lawmakers of Janata Samajbadi Party and one lawmaker of Nagarik Unmukti Party after they lodged an impeachment against him.

JSP lawmakers Manish Kumar Suman, Sanjay Kumar Yadav, Sinhasan Sah Kalwar and Sarada Shankar Sah and Nagarik Unmukti Party lawmakers Urmila Singh had been dismissed.

The lawmakers had moved the court against the Speaker's decision to relieve them of their posts.
