NPL 2025: Biratnagar beats Pokhara by 53 runs

Biratnagar Kings defeated Pokhara Avengers by 53 runs in the third match of the ongoing Nepal Premier League (NPL) held in Kirtipur.

Biratnagar bowled out Pokhara for 167 runs in 18.5 overs while the latter was chasing the 221-run target.  

To restrict the opponent to such a paltry score, Marchant de Lange, Pratis GC, Shubham Ranjane and Sandeep Lamichhane took 2 wickets each while Surya Tamang grabbed 1 wicket for Biratnagar.

Despite 59-run score from captain Kushal Bhurtel, Pokhara fell well short of the target. Bhurtel hit 5 fours and 4 sixes off 59 balls. Similarly, Adam Rossington and Dan Douthwaite scored 39 and 29 runs, respectively. Abhisekh Tiwari contributed 11 runs while the other batsmen could not score double-digit runs.

Earlier, invited to bat first after losing the toss at the TU International Cricket Ground on Tuesday, Biratnagar notched up 220 runs losing 5 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Lokesh Bam topped the score with 72 runs including 1 four and 7 sixes off 48 deliveries followed by Martin Guptill with 61 runs. Guptill hit 3 fours and 5 sixes off 35 balls. Similarly, Shubham Ranjane and Basir Ahamad and Narayan Joshi contributed 38, 23 and 11 runsl, respectively. The other batsmen could achieve significant runs.

On the bowling side, Matt Taylor took the highest 2 wickets while Askash Chand, Sagar Dhakal and Kushal Bhurtel grabbed 1 wicket each for Pokhara.
