Department of Passport to procure 700,000 units of e-passport

The government has authorized the Department of Passport to purchase 700 thousand units of e-passport for time being.

The Cabinet meeting held on Friday allowed the Department to proceed with buying the e-passports from present supply company through a variation order till the issuance of e-passports as per new contract.

Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Jagdish Kharel, shared this information on Friday.

The Cabinet meeting also decided to permit a Nepali delegation under Energy Secretary, Chiranjivi Chataut, to attend the meeting of Nepal-Bangladesh Energy Joint Taskforce and Joint Steering Committee to be held on November 26-27.

Dipak Shrestha from Gorkha district has been nominated as Member Secretary of Lumbini Development Council.

Even the organizational structure and employees' quota at Consumers' Court and Child Court have been approved by the government.

A member of the Indigenous People's Commission, Rina Rana, has been permitted to attend a seminar to be held in Lhasa City of Tibet, China from November 24 to 26.
