NPL 2025: Karnali Yaks beats Lumbini by 9 wickets

Karnali Yaks has defeated Lumbini Lions by 9 wickets thanks to Mark Watt's 114-run score in the seventh match of the Nepal Premier League (NPL), a franchise-based cricket tournament, held in Kirtipur.

Chasing the 157-run target set by Lumbini, Karnali reached it in 12.2 overs losing 1 wicket.

To secure Karnali's victory, Watt topped the score with 114 not-out runs studded with 6 fours and 12 sixes off 44 deliveries. Similarly, William Bosisto scored 29r runs and Priyank Panchal contributed 12 runs. 

Sher Malla managed to claim just one wicket for Lumbini. The other batsmen could take any wickets to pile pressure on the opponent. 

Earlier, invited to bat first after losing the toss at the TU International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur on Saturday, Lumbini notched up 156 runs losing 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Captain Rohit Paudel socred the highest 49 runs followed by Ruben Trumpelmann with 29 runs while JJ Smit and D'Arcy Short  contributed 23 and 19 runs, respectively. The other batsmen could score double-digit runs.

On the bowling side, Nandan Yadav took the highet 2 wickets followed by Sompal Kami, Gulsan Jha, Mark Watt, Bipin Sharma and Yuvraj Khatri grabbed 1 wicket each for Karnali.
