Eight Indian nationals held for operating online gambling linked to NPL 2nd season

Eight Indian nationals have been arrested on the charge of operating an online gambling platform linked to the second season of the Nepal Premier League (NPL).

A team of the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office apprehended them from Balkhu, Kathmandu today, SP Kajikumar Acharya said.

The arrested are Raja Yadula, 31, of the Indian State of Andhra Pradesh, Mahesh Babu, 35, Pandit Shree Niwasulu, 30, Sheikh Soyab, 20, Navin Maddela, 30, Mahammad Rafi Sheikh, 32, Sai Kumar Tammi Setti, 19, and Sheikh Chand Basal. They had been staying at Samakhusi.

According to the police, they had been operating an online gambling platform through a betting site.

The police have confiscated 15 mobile sets. They have been sent to the District Police Range, Kathmandu for further investigation, SP Acharya said.
