Two matches are being played today in the ongoing second edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL), a franchise-based T20 cricket tournament, in the capital.
Lumbini Lions will face Pokhara Avengers in the first match at the Tribhuvan International Cricket Stadium at 11:15 am. Similarly, in the second match, defending champions Janakpur Bolts and the runners-up Sudurpaschim Royals will play at 4:00 pm.
Lumbini, led by captain Rohit Paudel, has won one out of four matches, and Pokhara, led by captain Kushal Bhurtel, has also won one out of three matches. Lumbini is in seventh place in the points table, while Pokhara is in the sixth place. Both teams need to win this match to keep their playoff hopes alive.
Similarly, in the second match this afternoon, Janakpur will face Sudurpaschim. Janakpur, who has played three matches and is yet to score a point, aims to secure its first victory today.
Janakpur, which is at the bottom of the points table, risks being eliminated from the playoff race if they do not win this match. On the other hand, unbeaten Sudurpaschim is in the first place on the points table, having won all four of its matches.
Sudurpaschim wants to secure its place in the playoffs by winning today's match. Furthermore, Sudurpaschim will be looking to take revenge for the loss against Janakpur in the last season's final.
This match is expected to be very exciting.
