Nepali Congress (NC) is set to hold its 15th General Convention from January 10 to 12. The party, which had been embroiled in a dispute over the General Convention since October 14, has finally found a solution following the directive of party President Sher Bahadur Deuba.
On Sunday, Acting President Purna Bahadur Khadka prepared a proposed timetable as per the party president's request, following a discussion with General Secretaries Gagan Thapa and Bishwa Prakash Sharma, leader Ramesh Lekhak, and Publicity Department Chief Min Bishwakarma.
The proposal regarding the timetable will be presented by Acting President Khadka himself at the Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting on Monday. Earlier, separate proposals were submitted by the General Secretaries and Joint General Secretaries, leading the Acting President to now table a unified proposal for consensus, sources said.
Sources claim that the Acting President's proposal is not for discussion but will be presented directly for a decision.
"Just as a Minister tables a proposal in the Parliament, and finally the Speaker presents the proposal for a decision, the Acting President will present the proposal for a decision," the source said, adding, "If anyone disagrees, a decision will be made by through votes."
