Finance Minister Rameshwor Khanal has made it clear that the election to the House of Representatives will be held on the scheduled date.
Speaking at the 16th Annual General Assembly of the Nepal Association of Financial Journalists (NAFIJ), Khanal stressed that postponing the election would push the country toward uncertainty and negatively impact various national activities.
“The level of corruption has increased significantly, encouraged by powerful figures within the state, and this must come to an end. Public service delivery must be transparent. These demands have been consistently raised,” Minister Khanal said. “Postponing the election under any circumstance would lead the country in an uncertain direction. It affects many processes. The election must be held on time, and a positive environment is necessary for this end. The government is committed to ensuring this.”
He added that the election would be conducted on time with the consensus of all political parties and the support of the general public. He also emphasized the need to project Nepal’s image internationally as a country that upholds democratic practices by holding elections that are safe, free, and fair.
Khanal further stated that Nepal should maintain the positive evaluation it has been receiving from the international community. He noted that the government must undertake further reforms in the coming days to improve its image.
