The writ petition filed by Nepali Congress (NC) at the Supreme Court against the dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR) has been registered.
Former Nepali Congress chief whip Shyam Kumar Ghimire, whip Sushila Thing, and several other lawmakers filed the writ last Sunday through their representative, Shrawan Kumar Shrestha.
The Supreme Court registered the writ today and also scheduled it for hearing on December 17.
The writ petition, which argues that appointing an individual who was not a Member of Parliament (MP) as prime minister is unconstitutional, will be heard at the constitutional bench.
The petition also demands that the decision to dissolve the House of Representatives be reversed and that the situation be restored to the status quo as of September 9, 2025.
Over a dozen writ petitions have been filed against the House dissolution.
