The minimum temperature has gone down further today compared to yesterday. According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the minimum temperature in the Valley dropped to 6 degrees Celsius at 5:45 am today.
At the same time on Tuesday, the minimum temperature was recorded at 6.5 degrees Celsius, which later fell further to 6.2 degrees at 8:45 am—marking Tuesday’s official minimum temperature.
Today’s official minimum temperature will again be recorded at 8:45 am, and forecasters say it may drop further or remain the same until then.
Meteorologists explain that cloudy skies at night tend to raise the minimum temperature, while clear skies cause it to fall.
The Meteorological Forecasting Department measures both minimum and maximum temperatures of Kathmandu and other parts of the country each day. Minimum temperatures are measured at 8:45 am, and maximum temperatures at 5:45 pm.
