Prime Minister Sushila Karki is expanding her cabinet today with the addition of four new ministers.
Ministers for Forest, Land, Women, and Labor are being appointed, the Prime Minister’s Secretariat has said.
According to the Secretariat, Kumar Ingnam has been picked as the Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, Madhav Chaulagain as the Minister for Forests and Environment and Rajendra Singh Bhandari has been given the responsibility the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security.
Similarly, Shraddha Shrestha has been picked as the Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens.
The newly appointed ministers are scheduled to be sworn in at 3:00 pm this afternoon.
Ministerial reshuffle
The incumbent Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, Anil Kumar Sinha, is being reassigned. He will take charge of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, the Prime Minister's Secretariat said.
Who are these ministers?
Kumar Ingnam
Born in Aathrai-4, Tehrahtum, Kumar Ingnam is an expert in International Trade and Arbitration and Financial Crime Law. He is currently a professor at the Kathmandu School of Law. Prior to this, he taught at Mahendra Ratna Multiple Campus in Ilam. Ingnam has authored many books.
Rajendra Singh Bhandari
Rajendra Singh Bhandari is a former Additional Inspector General of the Nepal Police. He is the founding chief of the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB).
Madhav Chaulagain
Madhav Chaulagain is a Public Health Expert. He has conducted in-depth research on issues related to the Karnali region. He wrote the book 'Sapadlaksha Karnali'. Additionally, he also wrote the song 'Mantha Hu Ma Mantha' (I am a human, a human).
Shraddha Shrestha
Shraddha Shrestha is a Senior Manager at the Nepal Tourism Board. She was the project chief for the 'Sustainable Tourism' project at the Tourism Board.
